Day 5: Afternoon & evening in Buenos
Aires
A warm afternoon in Buenos Aires
plus another memorable meal
After the humidity at
the Iguazu Falls, the weather in Buenos Aires was lovely
and warm, without being too hot. The drive from the airport
to our hotel only took 15 minutes, meaning we could still
enjoy some of the late afternoon sunshine. |
The city is full of
contrasts. After seeing some prosperous neighbourhoods during
our city tour a few days ago, we now saw some less prosperous
areas, with what looked like informal settlements lining
the road as we drove towards the city centre. |
In no time at all, we were approaching the city
centre...
...and the familiar sight of our hotel.
The luggage we had left
at the hotel two days before was already in our room and
this time, we had a much better view from our hotel window. |
Despite not feeling
really hungry (unsurprisingly), we walked back to the wonderful
restaurant we had discovered a few days ago, although we
both resolved in advance that we would not be ordering steak
again! |
A reminder, if we needed one, of the restaurant.
We both choose a nice light starter.
Geoff chose the sweetbreads
that he had spotted on the menu last time, but he wasn't
expecting a portion this size! |
Bruce thought
chicken schnitzel would be small and light. He was
wrong! |
Despite the generous
portions, both of us managed to eat a considerable amount
of the food on our plates before giving up. The meal was
absolutely delicious and we were so glad that we had come
back a second time. We did, however, not order a dessert.
Afterwards, we made our way back to the hotel for an early
night. |
