Day 5: The tri-border, seen from Argentina
Our last day in Iguazu. Overlooking
the point where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet.
Lunch at a local restaurant then fly back to BA.
We enjoyed breakfast
overlooking the pools at the hotel. We had really enjoyed
our stay here at the Loi Suites, but it would soon be time
to say goodbye. |
After a short coach
ride from the hotel, we drove through the town of Iguazu,
which we had not had an opportunity to explore. |
We got dropped off here,
fairly close to the centre of town. |
We had arrived at the
viewing point where it is possible to see where three countries
meet. |
From Argentina, we could
see Paraguay on the left and Brazil on the right. |
While Caroline was assisting
one of our fellow travellers, the water fountains sprang
up quite unexpectedly and they got a little wet. |
Back on the coach for
another short drive into town... |
...where we stopped outside
the restaurant where we would be having lunch. |
We were shown to a private
dining area, where we were served with another delicious
meal of steak (and Malbec). Never mind that we had eaten
steaks in the restaurant last night. This is Argentina and
this is what they do best. |
Somehow we managed to
eat all of it, bearing in mind that we had promised ourselves
yet another big meal this evening! |
Caroline on the left,
with Carolina sitting opposite her. On the right is the
local guide for the Iguazu Falls, with the coach driver
sitting opposite her. |
After lunch we drove
straight to the airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires.
Bruce was excited to discover that the plane taking us there
was an Embraer E190AR. Geoff was less excited. It was a
plane, he said. |
Taking off, Bruce was
a little saddened to see how much of the jungle surrounding
the town had been converted to farmland. He was sure that
this wasn't the case when he was here in 2018. |
On final approach to
the domestic airport in Buenos Aires. It was good news that
we were landing here, because it meant a really short drive
to our hotel (only around 15 minutes). |
