Cruise ends in Portsmouth
|
|
|
|
|
After two full days on
the ship, we spent one last morning at sea before arriving
in Portsmouth at lunchtime. |
|
|
|
The English
Channel was eerily calm and it was almost impossible to see the
horizon. Very atmospheric! |
|
|
As we
approached Portsmouth, a pilot ship approached and the pilot boarded
our ship. |

Sailing into Portsmouth
at lunchtime, all passengers were on deck to view our two
new aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth II and HMS Prince
of Wales alongside each other. Waiting in the Solent was
HMS Somerset. Further into the harbour was HMS Diamond and
HMS Kent, and of course the old HMS Bristol. HMS Lancaster
was due to leave, but rather grandly waited for us to pass.
Great views to end the cruise. |

After
lunch on board it was finally time to leave the ship and head to
the station for our train. |

Neil
gave us the thumbs up. Was he that pleased to see us go? Haha...
probably! |
