Day 13: Tórshavn, Stremoy, Faroe
Islands
A morning visit to the National
Museum
then an afternoon at sea.
This is the route we
should have taken overnight, but, as explained by our expedition
leader at lunchtime yesterday, doing a sightseeing tour
of Suðuroy today would have been impossible because
of the fog. We were therefore quite happy that we remained
in Tórshavn overnight and got the opportunity to
visit the National Museum today. |
The fog was dense in
Tórshavn too, but that didn't matter to us. |

We were
back on the ship at 11:30 a.m. and sailed immediately. |

Late
that afternoon, we spotted several gannets. |
The weather
improved steadily as we got further from the Faroe Islands. |
The fairly long distance
from Tórshavn to St Kilda explains why we needed
to sail at lunch time. Had we departed from a more southerly
port in Suðuroy, as originally scheduled, we could probably
have sailed a few hours later. The aim was to arrive at
St Kilda early tomorrow morning. |
