Day 2: Reykjavik City Tour
Morning tour including Höfði, Hallgrimskirkja
Church, Perlan and Bessastaðir, the president's
residence. A free afternoon including lunch, a stroll,
seeing Harpa concert hall, followed by an excellent
dinner.

A short coach ride from
the hotel and we got our first stop at Höfði,
best known as the location for the 1986 Reykjavík
Summit meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. |

Back on the coach to
Perlan
(The Pearl), a popular nature museum, but we were only there
to walk up to the viewing platform, from where there were
some lovely views. |

The tour ended back at our hotel. It was
lunchtime and we felt slightly peckish. We decided to take
a stroll and look for a suitable place to have a snack. By
chance we found the pedestriansed area of the city and really
liked it. |
We decided
to stop here for lunch. |
The light
snack cost the equivalent of 44 pounds. This is quite an expensive
city. |
Afterwards,
we continued to explore the local area. |

We found
ourselves back at the church we had visited on the tour earlier. |

Geoff
found a train! |

Later, we had dinner at Reykjavik Kitchen.
Luckily, we had pre-booked. They were turning people away
and after eating their delicious food, we knew why! |
