Vancouver is a great city.
A great location by the sea, surrounded by mountains, and
with very friendly people.
We stayed in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Our room overlooked the square and fountains in front of
Vancouver Art Gallery. |

Vancouver, like Calgary, has a tower from which
there are great views. The lift goes up the outside of the
building, which did not delight Geoff... |

Having grasped the layout of the city, we
then went down the road to Gastown, the oldest part of Vancouver,
with its famous steam clock that toots out on the quarter
hours. |

As it was a crystal clear day, we decided to
go up Grouse Mountain and see the views. We took the Sea Bus
to North Vancouver. |
|
Then another cable car to the top of the mountain.
We saw, amongst other things, grizzly bears and lumberjacks. |

After lunch overlooking the city, we returned
and visited the Dr Sun Yat-sen Park and Classical Chinese
Garden back in Vancouver. They are in the Suzhou style and
we can confirm how authentic they are! (see China
1999 - Suzhou) |
