On Thursday 1st April, we drove further
North to Wanaka. We were lucky with the weather and the
scenery was stupendous, not least the red tussock grass
and later the Crown Range road high over the mountains.

Much to Geoff's surprise - and delight!
- we stumbled across a preserved steam railway line. |
|
Eventually, we got to the beautiful
Lake Wakatipu |

Wanaka was a pretty town (thank you, Phil C, for suggesting
we stay there) and our hosts at Aspiring Images, George and
Betty were very hospitable. |
|
Another town that we left with regret
- and in pouring rain. |
