On Saturday 27th March, we left Queenstown
and drove to Dunedin, back across the High Country. Again,
the scenery was stunning. Unfortunately, rain prevented
us taking any photographs. |
Then back to the East Coast where we popped
along to see the world-famous (?) Moeraki boulders. These
are curious 1m high perfectly round rocks scattered along
the beach, for all the world as if giants had been playing
bowls. |

Our B&B in Dunedin was somewhat disappointing
(we will not name names, however...) with the toilet, bath
and sink not so much 'en suite' as 'en chambre' - only a small
screen between the bedroom area and them! However, we found
a good restaurant and after scallops, fillet of beef and some
good NZ wine, it did not seem to matter so much. |

On Sunday, it rained again.
We looked around town briefly, which has an amazing railway
station (above). We also went to see the turn of the century
Olverston
House pictured below. (Follow the link to an excellent
web site). We enjoyed our visit tremendously. |

We then drove down to the
Otago Peninsular - a haven for wildlife, including birds
(penguins, albatross, etc) and seals and finished our day
with a visit to the art gallery in the centre of town; another
very enjoyable experience. |
