Our last morning in Strasbourg before
catching a
train to Saint-Louis and a cross-border tram.

No surprises for guessing
that we returned to our usual breakfast venue. It was a
lovely find and good value for money, considering that the
buffet breakfast at the hotel would have cost 21 Euros each. |

|
|
It was a beautiful day
so we spent much of our remaining free time walking and
just enjoying the sights, some of which were by now quite
familiar to us. |

After returning to the
hotel to collect our luggage, we walked to the station in
time meet Edith & Gregor and to catch the 10:51 train
destined for Basel. |
|
|
|
We were slightly early,
so Geoff took the opportunity to do a bit of trainspotting! |

As our train came in,
we spotted Edith and Gregor, who were about to board the
first class carriage, as pre-arranged. Although the final
destination for our train was the main station in Basel,
E&G said that we would disembark at Saint-Louis, which
is where we had begun the last stage of our journey to Strasbourg
three days ago. From there, we would take the tram across
the border into Switzerland and on to the centre of Basel. |
|
|
After a gently scenic
journey taking an hour and a quarter, we arrived at Saint-Louis
station. |

|
Directly outside Saint-Louis
station is the tram stop. There, waiting for us, was the
Number 3 tram, which would take us across the border into
Switzerland. There are 4 stops, including this one, on the
French side of the border and a mere 9 minutes afer departing,
we were at the border, which is almost invisible! |
