Ulsan, Korea
for Gyeongju
|
|
|
|
|
Thankfully,
the sea was calm overnight and we slept very well on the voyage
from Japan to Korea. |
We got
a colourful welcome to the highly industrial port of Ulsan. |

After a fairly long coach drive, our first stop
was at the Tumili Park in Gyeongju.
This is the entrance to the Flying Horse tomb.

The next
stop was the Gyeongju National Museum. |

hundreds of pieces of gold in the museum. |

After the museum visit and an entertaining exit
from the car park,
which had been completely blocked by a single car,
we were taken downtown for a fascinating walk through the Seongdong
traditional market.
|
|
|
There
were things on offer there that we had never seen before! |

Wigs

|
Other
local specialities, including Kimchi. |
|
|
After seeing some challenging
looking food in the market, it was time for us to have our
lunch at a local restaurant. It was a Korean barbeque, which
was delicious, although Bruce didn't eat many of the side
dishes.

During
lunch, we were entertained by ladies in traditional costume. |

We returned
to the port and to the welcome sight of our ship, the Caledonian
Sky. |

|
Our short
stay in Korea was over. It was time to sail back to Japan. |

The pages from this holiday
are not yet complete. Hopefully this sample will give some
idea of our experiences.
