Programme (2) for 9th July 2011

After a rather dull day weather wise on Bornholm the previous day, it was lovely to awake to dazzling sunshine.
We were all on deck as we cruised along the Gotland coast approaching the main town, Visby.

We were taken by coach to Högklint, quite near to the town of Visby

After the excursion to the Högklint nature reserve, we returned to the town and continued our guided tour on foot.

The town was quite busy, because our visit coincided with Almedalen Week and the town is the venue for everyone involved in Swedish politics. Representatives from the major political parties apparently take turns to give speeches in Almedalen park. Fortunately the park was quiet when we visited it. Perhaps we were just lucky?

After the guided tour, we returned to the ship for lunch...
...and then went back ashore to re-explore the town by ourselves.

At about 4.00 pm, we waved goodbye to Visby and sailed away en-route to Stockholm.
