Torghatten, Brønnøysund
and the magical Svartisen Glacier
Never mind "misty weather"...
it was raining... hard! We did NOT join the morning walk, although
Bruce later regretted this. |
The "expedition" we missed
got all the way to the hole in the mountain. |
It was still raining when the zodiacs
returned. |
Not long afterwards, we reached
this bridge at Brønnøysund.
We were told that the ship would sail under it with only one metre
to spare between the top of the ship and the bridge! |
We had to take a video, well, you
know, just in case it was needed as part of the accident investigation! |
Brønnøysund looked
interesting, but we sailed right past the town. |
Later, we sailed past the monument
on Vikingen Island, which marks the Arctic Circle line. |

Crossing the line of the Arctic
Circle was reason enough for a celebration! |

Bruce decided he was going to go
ashore on the evening glacier expedition. He needed to stoke up
for this adventure! |
(It seems Bruce needn't have "stoked
up" after all for the evening diversion, as there were waffles
on shore. Oh well, better safe than sorry!) |

This had been one
of the highlights of the trip for Bruce.
The rain had stopped. It was calm, mild and so atmospheric. |

What an amazing experience. It was
11.00pm when we returned to the ship and it was still light. |
