The port of Vathy, a visit to the Archealogical Museum and
a scenic drive to the Heraion of Samos
|

|
|
We had an early start. Today
was going to be a busy one with the morning spent on the
island of Samos
and the afternoon touring Ephesus, near the port of Kusadasi,
which is a short distance by sea from Samos. |

We started our morning tour
with a visit to the Archealogical museum in Vathy, which
is housed in two buildings. |

Left: Close to the site of the Heraion, we spotted these
grapes drying in the sun on a makeshift rack in an unassuming,
derelict looking property. We assumed that they were being
prepared for wine making and made a mental note to look out
for the famous Samos dessert wine before we left Greece. |

|
On the way back to Vathy,
our driver stopped to let us take these photos. |
