Danube bend? I hear you
ask. There is a huge bend in the Danube at this point with
some very attractive scenery and historic towns on the hill
around which the river goes. The plan is that we travel
by coach from Budapest through said scenery whilst the ship
cruises round the bend to meet us at Estragom on the West
side.
After breakfast we get back on the coaches
with our lovely guide Kinga. We were driven to Szentendre,
a pretty artists village. |

At last, here was a real
shopping opportunity and some of the passengers went berserk.
Indeed, we were pulled into the shopping frenzy and bought
some paprika (well, you have to, don’t you?)... |
|
... and some marzipan sweeties
(did you know that Szentendre is the marzipan capital of
the world with its own marzipan museum? Nor did we). |
|
|
Then back on the coach to
visit Visegrad castle from where we got some fantastic views. |

|
And to add to it, just we
we got there, our ship passed by beneath us... |
|
...and later we caught up
with the ship as we drove along a road next to the Danube |
|
|
|
Our final stop was Estragom
with its massive classical church. |

Then back to the ship where
the crew prepared lunch on deck.
The ship then moved off and we all snoozed
in the hot sun.
That evening there was a special captain’s
dinner, where the chef Andreas and his team had put themselves
out more than usual. The gang of six sat together.
At 23:00 we sailed through Bratislava and
had some great views of the bridge as we passed under it. |
