Malta revisited

Sunday 2nd October 2022

Valetta is another familar port for us, having sailed in and out of it in 2017. Entering from the sea is a really special experience.

After breakfast, we disembarked for the last time this holiday. We said goodbye to Neil and to the people on the ship who had all worked so hard to make our trip so good. Our flight was only due to leave in the late afternoon, so there was time for a final excursion and lunch ashore.

Birgu, also known by its title Città Vittoriosa, is opposite Valletta and this is where we went. The last time we came here, we did the same things that been planned for today, so this time we didn't join the guided tour or the visit to the Inquisitor's Palace. Instead we explored the area for ourselves, aiming to meet the group back at the restaurant in time for lunch. To see what we saw in 2017, click here.

Victory Square, Birgu. We had coffee there later.

The upstairs restaurant, Don Berto, was familiar, with a steam engine outside.
We had lunch here in 2017 and the meal was excellent on both occasions.

After lunch, we got back on the coach for the short drive to the airport.
Later we boarded our flight back to Heathrow.

We were very impressed with the service and the meal.

Crossing the south coast of England. We think that is Hastings below us.

We had a wonderful holiday. We feel very lucky to have had the experience.
