We booked this
holiday almost a year before we went, because we
were really keen to visit Corsica and Sardinia.
In 2013, we were scheduled to call in to Bonifacio,
but bad weather prevented this. Sadly, high winds
prevented us from visiting the port once again,
but we did get to visit Ajaccio instead and were
not disappointed with the change. Once again, we
were impressed at how plans were amended seamlessly
when weather conditions necessitated this. For example,
we were supposed to sail south along the west coast
of Sardinia, but extremely high winds made it impossible.
Instead of visiting Alghero using tenders, we docked
in the sheltered port of Porto Torres, from where
we took a short coach ride to Alghero. We then sailed
north and east, passing Bonifacio, which was closed
to ships, before turning south again, sailing along
the much calmer east coast to our next port of Cagliari. |
