At leisure in Lucca -
Day 2

The forecast for today
was for mild, dry weather with cloud increasing as the day
progressed. It was perfect weather for a long walk around
the city walls. We set off shortly after breakfast walking
in an anti-clockwise direction. We got a different perspective
on many of the buildings we had seen yesterday and well
as seeing the beautiful countryside outside the walls. |

It took us just over
an hour to complete the walk around the city walls. After
a coffee break at the lovely restaurant near our hotel,
we resumed our random mooching aroung the city. There was
a lot to keep us interested... and amused! |

Geoff visited the
gardens of Palazzo Pfanner. |

Bruce followed up on
his decision yesterday and climbed the 232 steps to the
top of the Torre Guinigi, from where there were wonderful
views of the city and beyond. Geoff waited for him at the
bottom! |

Later, Geoff started
taking photos of all the unusual art works around the city,
as well as the interesting old shop-front signs. |

Another delicious
lunch at our favourite restaurant. |

Still seemingly having
lots of energy (well he didn't climb the tower, after all!),
Geoff walked around the city walls again, this time in a
clockwise direction. |

In the evening, we tried
another restaurant on the recommended list. Despite dining
in the basement, we enjoyed the meal very much. |
