Ngwenya
Lodge is situated on the southern perimeter of the Kruger
Park. Each of its separate lodges has a high vantage point,
looking directly over the Crocodile River and into the park
itself. An electric fence on the southern bank of the river
prevents (most of!) the dangerous wild animals from getting
out of the park. We felt very privileged to be there and
are very grateful to Phil and Debbie for allowing us to
use their wonderful property. Each day, we were able to
travel the short distance to the Crocodile Bridge gate (crossing
a low causeway... more about this later) and drive into
the Kruger Park. In addition to the luxury accommodation
and stunning location, catering services were provided by
Mom, Jackie, Des, Edna & Dad, all of whose efforts contributed
to making this a holiday to remember! |

On the road to Ngwenya.
A stop for petrol, toilets and padkos! |
Below. The last part of
the journey was on a gravel road. Fortunately, it wasn't
a very long road. |

From the private bedroom
balcony, we saw buffalo and rhino (at least). |

Our first meal was another
one of Des's braais. It was delicious! |

After a spot of bird watching,
it was time for a drink on the terrace adjacent to the restaurant |

Anyone for scrabble?
Bruce got soundly beaten by his mother! |

Des, determined to find a leopard for
us. |
Later, the mother of all rain storms! |

Later still, a brilliant

A final pose for the camera

Above: Health and safety doesn't appear
to be a priority. It is fairly common
to see people riding on bakkies like this. |

getting
a speeding fine and encountering the worst
thunderstorm ever! |
