All good things must end and
overnight the train travelled from Agra back to Delhi,
where we bade farewell to Sid and Prabhu and our fellow
travellers. We exchanged addresses with a few people
and promised to stay in touch.

Because we had a full day
at leisure in Delhi before our departure for Shimla, we
decided to ask Kuoni to arrange another tour of Delhi to
see some of the sights that we hadn't been able to see the
previous week. We were so glad we did, because there is
so much to see! |
|
|
|
Our first stop was Humayun's
Tomb |

Next, we visited the Lotus
Temple |

Our next stop was the Qutb
Minar which, at 72.5 metres, is the world's tallest brick
minaret. |

the Qutb complex was erected in 375-414 AD
We were told that it had withstood corrosion until very
recently! |

Stray dogs are a common
sight in India, although they don't all look this peaceful! |

Another public monument,
which our guide said she would take us to, but would not
guide us around, because she didn't feel safe! |
|

|
|
Access to legal services,
Delhi style! |
|
|
|
|
Our guide, by now, realising
that we weren't into shopping (well actually, we told her
upfront "no shopping... or else...!") took us
instead slightly off the beaten track, down an extremely
crowded suburban alley way, to see more architectural attractions.
We increased our tip at the end of the tour to show our
appreciation. |

|
|
Later that afternoon we
returned to the hotel via the by now familiar chaotic toll
booth |
|
We relaxed in the tranquil
garden, enjoying a light snack. That evening, we decided
to treat ourselves to the best restaurant in the hotel! |
