On Tuesday, we returned
to Benoni (passing the new casino (below)
...and the township of Wattville
Several times we saw a blind man, guided by
a sighted person, standing at traffic lights (or "robots"
as they are called in South Africa), begging for money.
Above: Benoni town centre.
We also saw the ubiquitous taxis - the
only way for people to travel if they have no car.
We visited Bruce's mom Yvonne at her house
(left) several times. There was usually tea and cake involved...
We all managed to spend
a little time with baby Ryder.
Geoff asked if he could
have roast lamb one night (the lamb in South Africa is leaner
and tastier than English lamb). Many were invited to the
feast. Yvonne cooked, Jackie cooked too and Des carved.
By the time these pictures were taken, Yvonne wasn't cooking
anymore...!
