Our last full day in
Trieste

Saturday 27th May 2023
A day to explore the city for ourselves. We had a few ideas about the direction we were going to walk in, but we were quite happy to just walk and take in as many sights as we could.
 
We walked to the top of the Roman theatre and continued walking.

We had to return to the best ice cream shop in Trieste!
 
 
 
The Greek Orthodox church of San Nicolo.
 
 
 
 
This lovely lady really made us feel special during a few visits to Cafe Walter.
 
Today, this was meant to be a light lunch there!
 
Geoff went out with his camera in the heat of the afternoon. Bruce wisely took a nap!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Later we went out to a different venue for pre-dinner drinks, half way between the hotel and the restaurant. While we were sitting there, Helen, our guide from yesterday, walked past. With so many people about, it was really quite a coincidence. She came over and we had a nice chat for 15 or so minutes, before she had to go.
 
Our last dinner in Trieste was at Al Bagatto. We had the tasting menu, with each course paired with a different wine. It was probably the best meal of the holiday!
 
 
Prawns in wasabi tempura. With a glass of kefir and lime.
 
Lobster soup with sea urchin and squid ink.
 
Grilled linguine with squid, squid ink and caviar.
 
Sea bass with aubergine.
 
Pre dessert dessert(!) white chocolate with pistachio, dark chocolate with rum and panna cotta.
 
White chocolate bombe with passion fruit filling,
 
 
 
Coffee and grappa.
 
Our last full day, and it was a good one!
