We were meant to cruise
slowly all day today and only arrive in Marseille in the
evening. Late yesterday, however, our captain announced
that we would sail at full speed overnight because of a
poor weather forecast the next day and would therefore be
arriving early in the morning instead. We suspected that
the captain may have wanted a day off, but we'll never know...
and we weren't unhappy about the extra time we had in this
lovely city. |

|
The first thing we saw,
as we arrived in the port of Marseille,
was the impressive Basilica perched on a hill in the distance. |

Our docking location
couldn't have been better! |

|
Because we had arrived
early, no excursions were planned, so we set off on foot
to explore by ourselves. |

After a full morning
with lots of walking, we went back to the ship for lunch. |

We took advantage of the
fact that we would be in port overnight to take a stroll
