September 2021: Southwold with Lorraine, Peter, Jane, David, Mike & Rachel

After another year of disrupted holidays, we decided to book two weeks in Southwold instead of one as we usually do. Once again, we invited Lorraine and Peter to join us and once again, Jane and David were also there for part of the time. In addition we met up with Mike and Rachel who were coincidentally visiting at the same time as us. Our first week was hot and sunny. The second week was a bit cooler with some rain, but nothing which lessened our enjoyment.

Coffee at Broadgate while waiting for our train at Liverpool Street Station.

Dinner on our first night, in the garden at Sutherland House.

Sutherland House starter: Salt Baked Celeriac, Dates, Cream Cheese, Apple, Lime, Truffle Oil

Strawberry Pimms Cheesecake, Pimms Jelly, Fresh Summer Berries & Micro Mint.

The Bailey Bridge was closed for repairs during much of our stay.

The closure of the Bailey Bridge meant we had to find alternative walks.
A nice discovery was the Old Hall Cafe.

A mink taking refuge from an excited dog, which,
moments before, had chased it and even caught it briefly.

The penultimate day of our holiday and the bridge is finally open!

Kwets (or Quetsch), a type of plum grown locally and sold in the market,
are delicious to eat on their own or in a crumble.

It is always a pleasure to visit Southwold.
We hope that we will be able to return there many more times in the future.
