Seventeen months after
my last visit to South Africa, I was finally able to return.
When I last left SA at the end of March 2020, the world
was going into lockdown. It has only just become possible
for UK visitors to return to South Africa without the
need to quarantine for ten days in a hotel upon returning
to the UK. I therefore seized the chance and went to see
my family. I am so glad that I was able to do so.

It felt like such a privilege
to even be able to visit my family again, something which
I had taken for granted over previous years. I hope that
I will be able to return again without the fear of the
Covid pandemic being ever-present in everybody's thoughts.
