G&B: 2020: Southwold

September 2020: Southwold with Lorraine, Peter, Jane & David

We felt even luckier than usual to be able to go to Southwold this year in the middle of a pandemic. We invited Lorraine and Peter to join us. By coincidence, Jane and David had booked to go at the same time and it was lovely to catch up after many months of not seeing them due to the lockdown. The weather was rainy at times, but it didn't prevent us from having a really good week.

Due to the risks in using public transport to get there, we chose to hire a car, which Bruce drove.

Bruce chose sirloin steak. Geoff had the halibut. Both were lovely.

The following evening, we dined at The Crown. The desserts were especially good.
Bruce had the Broadside and banana toffee pudding with caramelised banana, toffee sauce and clotted cream.
Geoff chose the warm fig, orange and almond tart with stem ginger ice cream.

Peter and Lorraine arrived a couple of days after us.
Bruce met them at Halesworth station and drove them to the house.

The next day was the best day of the week weather-wise. We took full advantage of the sunshine!

David and Jane arrived a couple of days after Peter and Lorraine.
We all had takeaway fish and chips at our house.

We were all invited to Jane and David's place for morning coffee.

On our last night, Lorraine and Peter treated us to a wonderful meal at Sutherland House.
Geoff was keen to try the crab that had been specially ordered in for us.

It was a different holiday this year, compared to previous years, because of the virus.
Nevertheless it was lovely and especially so to see our friends, all together for the first time this year.
